March 11 was the 96th anniversary of Girl Scouting the United State. What do you, as a Girl Scout in Newtown, love about scouting?

Alisa Rodriguez, tenth grade, Senior Scout: “I enjoy helping people in the community because it’s rewarding.

Brooke Hadgraft, fifth grade, Junior Scout: “We’re practicing for Thinking Day. You create something and you do a show at the high school.”

Kealsea Morshuk, fifth grade, Junior Scout: “I like scouting because you get to meet new people in the troop. That’s how I met my friends Brooke and Brittny. We’re a trio.”

Brittny Gonzales, fifth grade, Junior Scout: “It’s exciting because you go on trips. We’re going to go to the Maritime Aquarium and sleep over.”

Tonya Tucker, fifth grade, Junior Scout: “Selling the cookies is so much fun because you get to do booth sales with your friends.”

Robbin Chaber, leader, Girl Scout Troop 50706: “What I love about it is instilling in the girls a sense of courage, character and confidence. That’s the Girl Scout creed. And I just love watching the girls blossom.”
