An Outstanding Season
An Outstanding Season
To the Editor:
Congratulations to the Newtown High School Marching Band and Color Guard for an outstanding season!
As newcomers to Newtown, we are significantly impressed with the dedication of the music department staff and students at Newtown High School and their immense efforts to develop a creative and technically flawless marching band and color guard program for this year.
Our family had no prior experience with or knowledge of marching bands and their color guards. We quickly learned that an enormous time commitment was required in order for the end result to be successful. This group of talented and dedicated students and their teachers and parents endured four days of rehearsal per week along with weekly performances at competitions as far away as Baltimore in order to hone their craft and become the champions that we witnessed on Saturday (November 12) when they won the Class IV Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Championships.
The group was judged based on their visual presentation as well as their musical competence. We happily watched as they learned and improved each and every week since they began the season in September. Throughout the season, the Newtown High School Marching Band and Color Guard won every first place title in their division to finish the season undefeated!
It was a pleasure to watch the performances and to see the growing pride within the group. Newtown should be proud of its students as well as the music staff at Newtown High School for a job well done!
Congratulations,
