Ukranian Workshop At

Paproski Farm This Weekend

Olga Paproski will lead a special Ukrainian Traditional Easter Egg and Easter Bread workshop at her farm this weekend. Mrs Paproski learned the art of decorating eggs and baking the traditional Pysanka from her mother.

The workshop will be at Paproski Farm, 5 Hattertown Road in Newtown, from 1 to 4 pm, on Sunday, April 1. Cost is $5 per person.

Each person will need to bring with them two raw and unblemished white eggs (at room temperature), a soft-leaded pencil, two short candles, a low candle holder, and paper towels. The supplies needed to make Pysanka will be available for purchase at a nominal fee.

Olga Paproski, a Ukrainian and an expert of Ukrainian traditions, will demonstrate decorating Easter eggs and will also offer a short talk on how to make Pysanka, which she learned from her mother while visiting the Ukraine.

Poppy seed and nut roll preparation will also be discussed, and examples will be displayed.

The workshop is being sponsored by Ukrainian Cultural Organization.

For additional information contact Mrs Paproski at 426-4017, Frances Ruppell at 748-5521, or Gloria Horbaty, 203-269-5909.
