An Extraordinary Season
An Extraordinary Season
To the Editor:
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Newtown High School Marching Nighthawks Band and Color Guard on an extraordinary season! These 109 high school kids have spent countless nights and weekends practicing and competing since the summer. Their efforts have paid off with amazing dividends! They are not only the 2005 Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Class IV Champions, but they enjoyed an undefeated season as well. The pride we feel in this band and their staff is enormous.
Despite four competitions that had to be moved indoors due to the heavy rain, including our home show, they managed to come home with 17 trophies. Had those competitions been held on the field, the yield would have been even greater.
The arrival of the bandâs new uniforms midseason helped build enthusiasm for the strong finish after many years of anticipation and planning. Look for them on national television at the next New York City Saint Patrickâs Day Parade.
To the parents of eighth graders and high school students not yet involved in this program: Please consider getting your child involved in the band or color guard. It will help build their school spirit, work ethic, social skills, and self-confidence by being part of a championship program where every team member competes on the field as a unit at every event.
Sincerely,
Steve and Judy Rosentel
