Kadleck To Sit In With

Univ. Jazz Ensemble

FAIRFIELD — One of the most sought-after trumpet players in the New York area, Tony Kadleck will be the guest artist at the Fairfield University Jazz Ensemble’s concerts on Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 and 9:30 pm. The concert will take place in the university’s Lawrence Wien Experimental Theatre in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Mr Kadleck, a graduate of Manhattan School of Music, has toured with Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and Blood, Sweat and Tears, and has recorded with Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Elton John and Celine Dion. He has played live concerts with the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Buddy Rich Band, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Isaac Hayes and, most recently, Steely Dan.

A composer, Mr Kadleck also loves writing music. He debut CD Extended Outlook features eight of his original works. He is currently a member of several music organizations including the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, New York Pops and Don Sebesky’s Big Band.

The program will showcase compositions by Jazz Ensemble musicians including two selections by student guitarist Eric Donnelly, one work by student violinist Michael Capriotti, and another by student bassist Larry Valliere. Also featured will be “Rio de Boca,” a composition by Brian Torff, the music program director at Fairfield University.
