Judy Linn To Speak At Aldrich Museum

RIDGEFIELD — On Sunday, July 9, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art will host photographer Judy Linn in dialogue with curator Matthew Yokobosky in the latest installment of the museum’s “Contemporary Context” lecture series. The program is part of the museum’s current major exhibition, “Speed Of Vision,” which is on view until September 6.

Ms Linn has contributed a specially commissioned photography project for the “Speed Of Vision” catalogue. Her unique interview with Mr Yokobosky will offer a unique twist on the standard “Contemporary Context” format and promises an interactive, multi-media event with video, slides, and conversation for the audience to enjoy.

Ms Linn’s work attempts to bridge the gap between the static printed medium and the dynamic video work featured in the exhibition. She attempts this by infusing everyday images with an edge of uneasiness.

Judy Linn has exhibited extensively in the U.S. with photographs featured at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, P.S.1, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the 1995 Whitney Biennial Exhibition. Her work has appeared in Art Forum, Bomb Magazine, The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine, and she has work in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, N.Y., the Dallas Museum of Fine Art, Texas, the Detroit Art Institute, Michigan, as well the Getty Collection, California.

The program will run from 4 to 6 pm, and cost is $10 per person. Reservations are required. Call the museum at 203/438-4519 for reservations or additional information.
