Don't Change Sandy Hook Center
Donât Change Sandy Hook Center
To the Editor:
I agree with Betty Guarino! [Letter Hive, 6/18/10, âDonât Ruin Sandy Hookâs Village Center.â] Why do we need another bank in Sandy Hook or in Newtown for that matter and why ruin the character of the area just because someone wants it to look homogenized? We definitely do not need more commercial space either. There are quite a few empty storefronts in Newtown already. Just look at Sand Hill Plaza and that eyesore project next to it. That is really an unattractive layout with unnecessary buildings. The trees that were there looked a lot better.
I donât think an individual should be able to modify a much admired section of town just because of imagined personal profit. The day care is the only business that sounds like a good idea but there are plenty of other available locations in town. The Villa is plenty big enough too. I think the charm is what draws people to Sandy Hook in the first place, and now Mr Kala wants to destroy the charm and make it look just like every other boring location in the world. Why would anyone be interested in seeing Sandy Hook if it looked like what he envisions? I suggest he take his ideas and move to another town.
