Orchestra Continuing 1st North American Tour With Danbury Performance
DANBURY â The 32-member Orchestra da Camera Italian and violinist/conductor Salvatore Accardo will perform in Danbury on Saturday, November 4. The concert, the second of the Danbury Concert Associationâs 2000-01 season and one of the featured dates on the orchestraâs first North American Tour, will take place at Ives Concert Hall, at 181 White Street. The concert will begin at 8:15 pm.
Founded in 1996 by Maestro Accardo, the orchestra features outstanding string players from the prestigious Stauffer Academy of Cremona. The group has made several recordings with Mr Accardo, whose career as a violin soloist includes performances with many leading orchestras.
The November 4 program will include works by Mozart, Schuber/Mahler and â with Mr Accardo as soloist â Chaconne by Vitali and The Carnival of Venice by Paganini.
Adult admission to all four of the seasonâs concerts is $32, and new subscribers are always welcome. Through a grant from Danbury Cultural Commission, students age 18 and under are admitted free of charge. Guest tickets for those who accompany subscribers or students are $12, available at the door.
