Power Tools
Police report they learned earlier this month that someone had stolen several power tools from a Connecticut Tree Doctor vehicle parked at a residential address on South Main Street in the Borough. Two vehicles were damaged in the incident, police said.
The crime constitutes second-degree larceny, representing a theft of items worth between $5,000 and $10,000. Police are investigating.
Bullet Hole In The Roof
Police said that residents of a Loveland Drive home found damage to its roof above an attached garage April 22 after it started to rain and water leaked through the roof into sheetrock on the garage ceiling.
While repairing the leak, the residents found a bullet hole through the asphalt shingles and plywood of the roof. A bullet was found on the floor of the garage, police said. Police are investigating the case of criminal mischief.
South Main DWI
Police report they received a complaint of an erratic driver on South Main Street near Monroe about 6:45 pm April 22. Police said the vehicle driven by Mayra Mesa, 38, of Brookfield was observed crossing over the roadâs center line.
Police said they stopped Ms Mesa and pressed charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to drive to the right, and disobeying the signal of an officer. After processing, police released Ms Mesa for a May 2 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Queen Street DWI
Police said a local man came to the police station about noon April 22 to complain that a motorist had struck his vehicle, which had been parked at a Queen Street business and then left the scene.
Police said they then contacted the motorist based on a description they received from the victim and asked the motorist to come to the police station to resolve the matter.
Police said the motorist, Roman Rostafin, 53, of 5 Possum Ridge Road, drove to the police station and smelled of alcohol. Police said Mr Rostafin failed field sobriety tests.
Police charged Mr Rostafin with driving while intoxicated and evading responsibility. After processing, police released Mr Rostafin for an appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Fox Hollow Lane
Police report that sometime between 8 am and 3 pm on April 12, someone burglarized a Fox Hollow Lane residence, causing an as-yet-undetermined amount of damages and losses. Police ask anyone with information on the case to contact them.
Warrant Served
Police said they served a warrant April 25 against John A. Blaze, 40, of 17 Beechwood Drive, Sandy Hook, listing one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of risk of injury to a minor in connection with an incident last December. Police declined to provide details on the case.
Mr Blaze was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Washington Avenue
Police report they observed motorist Christian R. Chemero, 34, of 3 Church Hill Road driving on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook about 2 am April 22 with an expired temporary vehicle registration card. Police charged Chemero with misuse of marker plates and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Chemero is scheduled to appear in court May 16 to answer the charges.
