By Rita Easton

NAZARETH, PA. -- The Nazareth Auction Center was the site of an October 10

sale held by Dotta Auction Co., Inc. Three hundred twenty five attendees vied

for 340 lots, with Jim Dotta auctioneering, along with his brother, Richard

Dotta, and Tom Abersese.

Antiques and collectibles were the subject of the day, with the top bid going

to a 14 karat yellow gold engagement ring set with a 1¬ (approximately) carat

diamond, fetching $2,400. A 14 karat white gold fancy cluster lady's ring

realized $900.

Generating interest among local collectors was a leather-bound 1819 Bible with

a watercolor book plate, which brought $700. The detailed history of the Camp

family residing in the Poconos was recorded in the book, naming John Camp,

Polly Camp, Elizabeth Camp, and Sarah Droughee, among others, and traced

family relations dating back to the Civil War. Within the pages of the book

were found four unbound watercolors of horses and riders, circa 1830, which

sold as a single lot at $1,400.

Ninety three pieces of Blue Willow china marked "Allerton" reached $500; a set

of six Theodore Havilland Limoges oyster plates went out at $290; a bow-front

china closet with carved feet front and back, and partially mirrored back made

$1,500; an early Martin guitar in "as found" condition, having cracks in the

back of the case, realized $675; and collectible Longaberger baskets ranged

from $30 to $75 for the Ohio made items, which "the local ladies are wild

about," said Dotta.

A panoramic photo, ten inches high and 42 inches long, dated August 15, 1912,

of Pocono Manor Inn, an early Pocono lodge no longer in existence, sold at

$240; approximately 25 pieces of Roseville varied in price from $50 to a high

of $400 for a "Jonquil" basket; a number of pieces of Waterford stemware,

goblets, wine glasses, etc., averaged approximately $20 each; and 114 pieces

of Franciscan china in the "Apple" pattern were purchased at $390.

A three-branch Gorham candelabra in sterling silver fetched $210; an oak two

section fireplace mantel, with carved griffins and carved feet, reached $800;

a mahogany desk with a bookcase top above achieved $375; and an oak jam

cupboard went out at $575.

Dotta Auction Co, sells all lots with no premium, no minimum, and no reserve.
