Frances E. Blood

Frances E. Blood, 74, wife of Donald Elmer Blood of Newtown, passed on to

eternity July 22 at Danbury Hospital after a long illness.

She was a resident of Newtown for 36 years. She was born Frances Elizabeth

Witkowski on November 19, 1924, in Bridgeport. She graduated from Roger Ludlow

High School in 1942 and from St Vincent's College of Nursing in 1945. She

worked 18 years at Ashlar of Newtown and retired in 1990. She was best known

as "Ma Blood" to all who walked through her door.

She was survived by 11 children, Christine of Raleigh, N.C., Donna of Sandy

Hook, Sharon of Watertown, Richard of Newtown, Kathy of Sandy Hook, Michael of

Glastonbury, Paul of Woodbury, Cyndy of Naugatuck, Patricia of Brookfield,

Pamela of Danbury, Dawn of Sandy Hook; six sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law;

16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her faithful friends.

Funeral services were held on July 26 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main

Street, Newtown. Burial was in Newtown Village Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Frances Blood may be made to American Diabetes

Association.
