Romantic Reveries:
A Choral Society Benefit Concert
From Brahms to Broadway, the 4th Annual Connecticut Choral Society Benefit Concert will be sure to give its audience a preview of spring, a time for new beginnings and romance through music. CCS will sponsor an evening of romantic reveries performed by pianist Joseph J. Jacovino and tenor Ciro Franco on Saturday, April 7, at 8 pm, at the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall in Newtown.
Mr Franco has appeared in productions throughout Connecticut and New York. His repertoire ranges from the Bel Canto style of opera, religious and wedding music to popular and show tunes.
In addition to singing, this Waterbury native has also directed, produced and choreographed numerous high school and community theatre productions. His recent roles include Uncle Archibald in The Secret Garden, the Wazir in Kismet and Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady. By profession, he is a teacher of Spanish and Italian at Bethel High School.
Mr Jacovino has been the director of music at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury for over twenty years. Also a native of Waterbury, he holds a bachelor of music degree from Hartt School of Music in piano and received a masters in music education degree from Manhattan School of Music. He is also the organist/choir director at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown.
In addition, Mr Jacovino is an adjunct faculty member at Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College, is the director of NVCTC Jazz Band, and is a member of Waterbury Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets are $25. Call 800-555-5250 or 203-263-7603 for reservations. Edmond Town Hall is at 45 Main Street (Route 25) in Newtown.
