To the Editor:

During the past eight years, we commenced in an unjustified war in Iraq. We funded that war with budget deficits and tax cuts. We are shamed by Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, and the suspension of habeas corpus. Our government ignores the Geneva Convention.

Now we are seeing the beginning of a serious financial recession. Deregulation of financial markets and deficit spending have left our economy and our retirement accounts in shambles.

In my view, the Election of 2008 is the most important election of my lifetime. Our next president will face daunting challenges. It is time for a president with great intelligence, compassion and competence. I am proud to support Barack Obama for President.
