SNAPSHOT: NATALIA KERLER

Occupation: I am an attorney and have had my office in town since November of

1993. I attended the University of Granada in Spain, and received a bachelor's

in political science and Spanish from the University of Rhode Island. My law

degree is from New York Law School.

How Long in Newtown: I married into the town eight years ago. Prior to that, I

lived in Westfield, N.J.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: I see more people out walking around or riding

bikes. It's probably due to the invention of baby joggers. I never used to see

people out, but now there are better sidewalks and roads. Where I lived

before, I walked everywhere, rode my bike or took mass transportation. I never

rode on a school bus to go to school. It's odd to me to have to use a car so

much.

Family: I've been married to Mike for eight years as of May 18. We have

three-year-old twins, Suzanne and Otto.

Hobbies: We have a boat on Candlewood Lake and waterski. I also like to

rollerblade. Most of all, I'm playing with the kids as much as I can. I cut

back on a lot of my activities so I could play with them.

Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read. It's hard to pick a favorite

author, but I would have to say John Irving and Kurt Vonnegut.

Organizations: I was recently appointed to the Economic Development

Commission, and am a member of the Bar Association. I also donate my time for

kids' sports to help with corporate papers or other legal things.

Favorite Vacation Spot: My favorite spot is at my parents' beach house in

Spring Lake, N.J., right on the ocean.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: My husband owned the house we live in before we

were married. Since my first date with Mike, he has had me helping him build a

46 by 26 foot barn in the back yard. We finally got the doors on this year.

We've been working on it for 11 years. We've had a great time doing it. It was

fun. We use it for our cars and for all the plastic yard toys for the kids.

Personal Philosophy: I always say if you want to move smoothly through this

world you can't have expectations of other people. You have to accept each

person as they are and each event as it occurs. You have to laugh a lot,

especially at yourself, and dress comfortably.
