Remember To Register
Remember To Register
To the Editor,
With the voting registration deadline approaching it is imperative that all eligible voters remember to register. In the state of Connecticut one cannot vote unless they are a registered voter. To be an eligible voter you must be a US citizen, a resident of Connecticut, and at least eighteen years of age. In addition, seventeen-year-olds may register to vote at any time, and then vote after they turn eighteen.
Because voting is the duty of Americans, and every vote counts, we are holding a voter registration drive at the high school, in hopes of urging all eligible voters to register. With a presidential election coming in the fall, your vote will help determine who will be leading our nation for the next four years. If interested please contact either Erik Martenson at 426-8493 or Carela Catigano at 270-1842. For those seniors who will be living away from home next year, and unable to be in Connecticut on Election Day, we also have absentee ballots that can be sent from your new location, and counted as your official vote. Registration can also be done at the Town Hall, or online at www.state.ct/sots.
Please remember that the right to vote is a privilege not had by many nations, so take advantage of such a great opportunity, and register today.
Sincerely,
Erik Martenson
