Harold Lockwood
Lifelong Sandy Hook Resident Loved Nature And The Land
Harold Lockwood, 60, beloved husband of Jane (Blackstone) Lockwood of Sandy Hook, died October 20. He was born in Danbury January 25, 1948, a son of the late Earl and Ruth (Ingram) Lockwood.
Mr Lockwood was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook, and was a graduate of Newtown High School. He served a tour of duty in the US Army.
Mr Lockwood had many occupations, but his first love was farming. He spent much of his adult life working on the Mitchell Farm in Southbury. He loved farming because it kept him close to nature and the land. He will long be remembered in his favorite bib overalls working in all activities associated with farm work.
He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and clam digging whenever he was not working. He looked forward to winter for the ice fishing and to summer to go clamming. His close fishing and hunting buddies were Rob Mitchell and Bill Clark.
In addition to his wife, Mr Lockwood is survived by two stepsons, Marvin and Jerry Jones of Bristol, Tenn.; two brothers, Robert Lockwood of Bantam and George Lockwood of Sandy Hook; six sisters, Florence Erickson of Sandy Hook, Linda Barry of New Fairfield, Judy Blakeman of Davie, Fla., Ruth Cabral and Barbara Jean Knoche, both of Danbury, and Joan Lockwood of Hallendale, Fla.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 24, at noon, in Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. Interment will be private. Calling hours are from 9 am to noon, Friday morning, also at Honan Funeral Home.
A celebration of Mr Lockwoodâs life will be held at the Sandy Hook Firehouse immediately following the service.
