Police said after an extended search September 18, they found a man dead of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area near Morgan Drive in Sandy Hook.
The man, Robert V. Caterson, Jr, 40, of Alpine Circle, Riverside, had been
reported missing from home by his wife, police said.
About 30 people, including town police, state police, Sandy Hook firefighters,
and Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue (NUSAR) combed the area searching for
Mr Caterson, police said. State police used a bloodhound in their search.
NUSAR searched the area by boat in the event Mr Caterson was in Lake Zoar,
police said.
Sandy Hook firefighters found the deceased Mr Caterson about 7 pm near Morgan
Drive, town police said.
The chief state medical examiner's office ruled the death was caused by a
self-inflicted gunshot wound.
