LONG VALLEY, N.J. -- A record breaking crowd, in excess of 2,400, attended the
Long Valley Antiques Show on February 20. It was a cold and bluster day with
forecasts for snow, but that did not stop buyers from coming to this
increasingly popular one-day show in western New Jersey.
According to show managers, Don and Joyce Coffman, dealers and retail
customers alike were lined up to the highway for the 10 am opening. Sales were
heavy all day with an emphasis on country. Many exhibitors reported record
one-day sales.
Ken Silveri, Hamburg, PA, sold his glass-door corner cupboard at the opening
and his high-back dry sink at the closing of the show, with other pieces
selling in between. Kurt and Debbie Engelmann of Long Valley reported another
"great" show for them.
Ingrid Campione of Staten Island sold both of her major pieces; a step-back
cupboard in original red paint and a show-stopping pie safe in dark green
paint. First time exhibitor Dorothy Gray of Latham, NY, reported her best
one-day show ever, selling copper, brass, ceramics, Quimper and more.
The 75 dealers who came to Long Valley went home happy and are awaiting
Antiques at the Old Red Mill in Clinton, NJ, on May 23. Clinton is just 15
minutes from Long Valley and will draw a very similar crowd.
