Underage Tobacco Sales Investigation Finds No Violators

Town police detectives and agents from the state’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services made undercover checks on December 20, in seeking to find businesses which illegally sell tobacco products to people under age 18, but found no local violators, police said.

None of the 22 local businesses that sell tobacco products, which were checked, sold tobacco products to an underage undercover agent working as part of the investigation, police said.

In the past, during such undercover operations, police typically found that a few businesses sold tobacco to an underage undercover agent.
