Festivals Will Feature School Bands, Choruses & Orchestras; Regional Drum Corps To Compete
MIDDLEBURY â Quassy Amusement Park will be alive with the sound of music on June 3 and 4 as the lakeside facility hosts two music events.
Student musicians and vocalists will perform Saturday, June 3, during Quassyâs Second Annual School Music Festival with afternoon performances to include bands, choruses and orchestras. The event kicks off at noon at Quassyâs Lakeside Theatre stage and is open to the public.
The June 3 School Music Festival will include performances by Betsy Ross Magnet School (New Haven) chorus, strings and band; Walsh Intermediate School (Branford) sixth grade chorus and sixth grade band, Redding Elementary School fourth grade band and fourth grade orchestra, Driggs Elementary School (Waterbury) chorus, Kennedy High School (Waterbury) band, and Benjamin Jepson Multiage and John S. Martinez Magnet Schools (New Haven) elementary/middle school band. Performances will begin at noon.
On Sunday, June 4, the park will host the Hudson Valley Drum Corps Association 2006 Championship Competition. The event will open with a parade at 12:30 pm, with corps and individual competition starting at 1 at various locations throughout the park.
 Participating drum corps will include Prospect Drum Corps, Oakville-Watertown Drum Corps, Washington Park Drum Corps, Colonel John Chester Fife & Drum Corps, Windsor Ancient Fife & Drum Corps, Warehouse Point Junior Fife & Drum Corps and the Connecticut Patriots Fife & Drum Corps.
