Girl Scout Gala Tickets Available

STAMFORD — The Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut’s Gala 2006 Committee is busy planning its fifth annual fundraising dinner dance and auction to support programs for more than 9,000 Girl Scouts in the 15 towns and cities the council serves in Fairfield County.

The event is open to the public and will be held Saturday, November 18, at the Italian Center in Stamford from 6:30 to 11 pm. Event and raffle tickets are on sale now at the council, 529 Danbury Road (Route 7) in Wilton, from Roseanne Shegirian, director of development. She said, “Raffle tickets at $20 each are an easy way for people who believe in Girl Scouting, even if they don’t have any children involved, to support this organization which does so much for girls and the communities in which they live. The event itself will offer great food, a live band, and both silent and live auctions with fabulous bargains.”

In response to input from volunteers, this year’s gala committee has lined up some appealing raffle prizes. First Prize is a three-stone diamond necklace in white gold retailing at $4,875. Second prize is a getaway for a family of four to the Pinegrove Ranch and Family Resort in Kerhonkson, N.Y. The five-night stay includes accommodations, meals, and activities.

Third prize is a trip for two to San Francisco and Sonoma, Calif., that includes two nights at the Fairmont San Francisco, three nights at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa, and a $500 JetBlue gift card. Some restrictions may apply to the two getaway packages.

“The gala’s tradition of great fun and fundraising is due entirely to the dedicated volunteers who recognize this event’s potential and value,” said Judy Frey, president of the Council Board of Directors. “The businesses, corporations, and individuals who support the gala allow us to extend the Girl Scouting experience to more girls who wish to participate.”

Event tickets for the Dinner Dance in “camp chic” attire, which is described as casually elegant, are also on sale. The early bird price of $100 per person applies until October 31.  Thereafter tickets are $125.
