WILTON â As its 192nd major production, Wilton Playshop will present The Sisters Rosensweig, a heartwarming comedy by Wendy Wasserstein, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and one of Americaâs greatest playwrights.
The Sisters Rosensweig is the funny and heartwarming story of three Jewish middle-aged sisters, originally from Brooklyn, who come together in Queen Anneâs Gate, London, to celebrate the 54th birthday of Sara, the eldest. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, January 26 through February 10, at 8:30. One matinee is planned for Sun, Feb 4, at 2 pm.
The Wilton cast includes Alian Charise, Jason Daniel, Vanessa David, Robert Fortunato, Tom Gamble, Cindy Hartog, Rosanne Nelson and Davina Porter. It is being produced by Amy Carter with direction and set design by Scott Brill. Eve Clulow is stage manager and lighting is designed by Mike Presti.
The Sisters Rosensweig was the winner of the 1993 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Broadway Play. The New York Times said the work was â⦠funny ⦠observant. A play with wit as well as acumen ⦠In dealing with social and cultural paradoxes, Ms Wasserstein is, as always, the most astute of commentators.âÂ
