Silverstein’s Dream Circles On Temporary View At Institute

WASHINGTON — The Institute for American Indian Studies is presenting the works of dream artist and healer Karen C. Silverstein in an exhibit called “Circle of Dreams: Journey With Spirit Beings, The Arts of Karen C. Silverstein.”

Ms Silverstein is a “dreampainter.” She is part of a group of dreamers that are healers.

This type of healing, which continues today, was first performed in most ancient civilizations. It is accomplished by the use of dream techniques and is used for healing oneself or others. Ms Silverstein transfers the images of dreams onto canvas with oil paints and brush. She dreams and paints for insight and vision.

“Circle of Dreams” will remain on view until March 3 in the George A. G. Darlow Exhibit Hall of The Institute of American Studies. The museum is at 38 Curtis Road and can be reached by calling 860/868-0518.
