Paying For The Show To Go On?
Paying For The Show To Go On?
To the Editor:
I can not believe that Newtown High School is asking for a $40 fee to participate in the play(s)! I can only imagine how upset Mrs Lucey was when she learned about this!
Donât you think that this charge (whether or not a student and or their parents can pay it) would discourage the students from trying out for the play? Isnât the Drama Club and or auditioning for the play supposed to be a way for the students to work together? Isnât it supposed to be a way for the student to socialize? Isnât it supposed to be a way for that shy student to come out of their shell so to speak? Isnât being in the play supposed to be a way for a student to build up that self-esteem?
I donât understand why all of a sudden, this year after all the years since NHS has had plays, the students have to pay to act and put a show on for the community and the student body. The saying goes, âThe Show Must Go On!â Nowhere in that statement does it say the actors and actresses must pay to go on does it?
