Celebrating The Feast Of The Guardian Angels
(with cuts)
A peaceful calm spread through St Rose Church Friday morning, as children and
their families joined St Rose teachers and clergy in celebrating the feast of
the Guardian Angels.
The priest told the children that God gives us the angels to guide us and to
help us.
He said this is a "feast of simplicity, a feast of humility, a feast of faith"
to the quietly attentive congregation.
Prayers and readings lead up the liturgy of the Eucharist which began with an
offertory procession.
The liturgy began with the following words, "As we enter the season of autumn
and a deepening darkness, we ask the angels of light to teach us how to live
as members of Christ's body. We offer this statue of the angel, Michael, who
helps us as we battle the injustices of the world, such as hunger, prejudice,
pollution and war..."
The Offertory Song, "We come to Your Table" was led by the young chorus, and
echoed by the congregation.
With a renewed sense of faith, students left the church to begin their classes
in the adjacent school building.
