Jo-Ann Mary (Pelletier) Sumple, 81, of Newtown Conn., passed away peacefully in her home after fighting a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Jo-Ann was born on April 11, 1942 to Ernest and Alma (Borghi) Pelletier in Bridgeport, Conn.

She graduated from Milford High School in 1960. She received a certificate in the Practical Nurse Education Program from Henry Abbott Regional Vocational-Technical School in 1986.

She worked as an LPN for the State of Connecticut, including Fairfield Hills Hospital and the Greater Bridgeport Community Mental Health Center, for more than 20 years.

Jo-Ann is predeceased by her parents and sister Linda. She is survived by her sister Barbara, her five children: Tracey, Paula, David, Stephen (Pam), and Michael and nine grandchildren: Brianna, Emily, Kalie, Thomas, Madelyn, Emma, Jake, Will, and Jack.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Calling hours will be held from 11 am to 1 pm and a Family Remembrance will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, August 19th at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St, Newtown.
