(Harold) John Benson Jr, born on July 30, 1964, in Middletown, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Danbury after battling cancer. He slipped away while listening to his wife reading passages from Winnie-the-Pooh.

John was a bright light, a beacon, not to be extinguished. Although he is no longer with us, the light of his love remains in our hearts.

John was a caring, loving, generous soul. He was a devoted and loving husband; a compassionate, supportive, and doting father; a teddy bear of a brother, and a true friend. He will be missed now and forever and loved to the moon and back.

John was always there for his children. Karate, gymnastics, dance, musicals, musicals, musicals, wrestling, football, weekends at the library renting Scooby-Doo and Barbie movies. You name it, he was there for it. The biggest, best cheerleader a kid could have. He was a sounding board, moral compass, and great listener. He was the proudest father!

John grew up in East Haddam, went to Xavier High School in Middletown, and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in computational mathematics. While attending college he met his wife-to-be, and the rest, they say, is history. He most recently worked for Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Tracy, and their children Madison and Jason; his sister Elaina and her husband Mark; his sister Kristy, her husband Frank and daughter Alexa; and his lifelong best friend Michael and his wife Mary.

The family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

A celebration of life will occur later in August.
