Laura Wildman

Laura Wildman, 101, of Southbury, passed away on July 9.

Laura was born at home in Trumbull on July 8, 1924. She was the loving wife of the late George Wildman. She was loved by her late parents Ernest and Edith (Barrow) Burdett, and her late sister Virginia (Ginny).

Laura grew up camping in the summer on the Housatonic River in Southbury where she met her future husband, George (Buzz). She would graduate from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport. Later, she would attend Booth and Bayliss Business School. Laura also worked at Dual Lite until retirement.

After the end of WWII, she married Buzz and they built their home on the same river where they had met. Laura resided in that home in Shady Rest until just a few years ago. Laura and Buzz would enjoy looking for eagles and deer together.

She is survived by her children Janice (Jim) McCullough, Gary (Donna) Wildman, and Glenn (Lisa) Wildman; her grandchildren, Michelle (Brett) Brown, Jesse, Patrick and Devon McCullough, Carmen, and John and Anthony Inzitari; her great grandchildren, Zachary and Victoria Brown, Gavin, Olivia, and Christopher Osborne; as well as Elora Hunt, Jake, Leah, Finnegan, and Harlo Inzitari.

Laura was predeceased by her loving husband George, sister Virginia, and parents Ernest and Edith (Barrow) Burdett.

A special thank you to the Lutheran Home for taking such good care of our mother. Especially Sam, Sue, Cindy, and Nancy.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 5-7 pm, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury. A graveside service at Newtown Village Cemetery, 20 Elm Drive in Newtown, will be the following day (Friday, July 18) at 11 am.
