Newtown Organizations Within Deep Pool Of Union Savings Bank Foundation Awards
DANBURY — The Union Savings Bank (USB) Foundation recently awarded $560,000 in funding to 61 organizations in Connecticut as part of the 159-year-old community bank’s ongoing effort to give back to those it serves.
The 2025 grant recipients offer a wide range of community services, including education and literacy programs, youth enrichment and developmental activities, the arts, health and wellness, mentorship, support for food pantries, and more.
Among those to be recognized were Newtown Community Center and Newtown Youth and Family Services.
Union Savings Bank President and CEO Chelen Reyes said the bank is “proud to support organizations that deliver meaningful contributions to the well-being of communities across western Connecticut and beyond.
“Their dedication to providing essential services that educate, enrich, and support individuals of all ages plays a vital role in enhancing quality of life. Union Savings Bank and the USB Foundation are honored to assist in furthering their important missions,” Reyes added.
Newtown Community Center received a $5,000 grant to support various community programs.
Newtown Youth and Family Services received a $6,000 grant to put toward Safety Town, a one-week safety education camp developed to teach kindergartners and first graders important life-saving lessons.
Additional organizations included Reach Western CT in Brookfield; Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, Inc, Danbury Grassroots Academy, Inc, Danbury Music Centre, Inc, Danbury Students and Business Connection, Danbury Youth Services, Inc, Families Network of Western CT, Family & Children’s Aid, Five Ducks Foundation, Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, Jericho Partnership, Inc, LVA School Inc, Saint Joseph Parenting Center, SCORE Association-Western Connecticut Chapter, The Center for Empowerment and Education (formerly The Women’s Center) and The Salvation Army, all in Danbury.
Also, Brave Enough to Fail, Literacy Volunteers on the Green, MVPSOS Foundation, Inc, Pratt Nature Center and Village Center for the Arts, all in New Milford; Ann’s Place Inc and RVNA Health, both in Ridgefield;
Friends of the Roxbury Library, Inc, Roxbury; Bedrock Credit America Inc, Southbury; After School Arts Program, Inc (ASAP!), Washington Depot; and Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust, Woodbury.
Grants were additionally presented to organizations in Ansonia, Bridgeport, Darien, Litchfield, Naugatuck, Norwalk, Shelton, Stamford, and Torrington; and to food pantries in Bethel, Bridgeport, Monroe, New Milford, Norwalk, Torrington, and Waterbury.
The USB Foundation was established in 1998 to provide the bank with an additional way to give back to the community. The Foundation focuses on helping programs that educate and enrich the communities that the bank serves. Since its inception, the USB Foundation has donated over $6 million in grants to hundreds of organizations.
