Dr Richard Auerback Is August’s Medical Staff Honoree
Danbury and New Milford Hospitals are pleased to recognize Dr Richard Auerbach, MD, as their Medical Staff Honoree for August.
Auerbach has dedicated over 30 years to pediatric care, earning a reputation in the local community for his enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment to excellence. Raised in Fairfield, he comes from a legacy of medical service — his father, Dr Sumner Auerbach, was one of Connecticut’s first medical oncologists and the founding member of Bridgeport Hospital’s cancer program.
Auerbach graduated from Tufts University and earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his pediatrics residency at the newly opened Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where he later served as chief resident and director of the inpatient management team.
His career includes time in private practice in Simsbury and as a preceptor at Burgdorf Medical Center, mentoring medical students and residents. In 2002, he moved to Newtown to cofound Newtown Center Pediatrics, and in 2013, he established Auerbach Pediatrics. When Nuvance Health closed its pediatric offices, Auerbach expanded his practice to welcome two of their providers.
A dedicated educator, Auerbach has mentored students from University of Vermont, University of Connecticut, Ross University, and St George’s University. He is known for his diagnostic acumen, his ability to connect with patients of all ages, and his unwavering compassion for families and caregivers.
Notably, Auerbach has always welcomed Medicaid patients, ensuring access to care for all. He also taught himself Spanish to better serve his diverse patient population, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. Like his father before him, Auerbach is beloved by his patients for his dedication, warmth, and tireless efforts to provide the highest quality care.
