To The Editor:

I would like to recommend Bruce Walczak for First Selectman. An economics graduate from Colgate with extra course work at Northwestern and Columbia, Bruce has been very successful in his relocation consultant business. Through the years, he has been involved in a number of town activities including as a member of the Police Commission.

I know Bruce best as a fellow member of the Newtown Lions Club. The two years he served as President were years of club growth club and the introduction of new ideas. As chair of the Lions health committee he was instrumental in bringing about vision eye screening for young children. This program has continued and has served more than 1500 children.

He also engineered our highly successful food drives called Stuff a Truck. Twice, working with local grocery stores and the US Army Reserves 411th Civil Affairs Battalion, a large truck was stuffed with needed items. The first time it was filled with groceries. This year Stuff a Truck featured diapers and, again, a whole truck was filled of this needed item.

In addition, through the years Bruce has been active in many other Lions activities such as Lose the Litter, Orchard Hill cleanup, selling Mustang raffle tickets. Whatever Bruce has attempted he has done well. It is for these reasons that I am proud to recommend Bruce for First Selectman.
