Newtown Scholarship Association Planning Inaugural Fall Chili And Cheer Fundraiser
Newtown Scholarship Association (NSA) has been awarding college tuition scholarships to deserving Newtown students since its inception in 1937. With today’s high cost of higher education, accomplished students are in need more than ever, meaning NSA must step into high gear to raise the funds every year.
“The NSA is in constant fundraising mode to help Newtown students fund their college education, but it’s a purpose we are honored to serve,” says Cindy Carlson, president of the Board of Governors.
On Sunday, October 19, from 4 to 7 pm, NSA will host the first of what it hopes will become an annual event: Chili and Cheer, a follow-up to its successful spring Beer and Cheer fundraiser.
The event will again be held at Reverie Brewing Company, 57-B Church Hill Road, the owners of which are loyal supporters of the association’s cause.
“We’re happy to help the NSA raise scholarship funds,” says Ryan Broderick, one of the owners of the brewery. “It’s a partnership that benefits the community and patrons who will experience a fun event with a relaxing vibe,” he said.
Chili and Cheer will offer variations on chili as prepared by the chefs of four local restaurants. In addition to Marketplace Kitchen and Bar, which provided food for the spring fundraiser, variations on the perennial fall favorite will be provided by Angelina’s Italian Deli, Sandy Hook Café, and Tacobarn.
Tickets also include a selection of side dishes and dessert, two beers or sodas, corn hole, and live music by Jailhouse.
Tickets are $70 per person, with a discount for four adult tickets. Kids are $10.
