Brandon’s Campaign Is About Listening, Not Attacking
To The Editor:
I’ve heard some in town try to argue that Brandon Moore does not really know Newtown. Not only is that untrue, but we are better than political mudslinging.
Knowing a town is about actions. It's about whether you invest your time, energy, and heart into the people who live there. Brandon has done exactly that.
I have watched him show up for Newtown with humility and a genuine desire to connect with people. He is putting in the human work of listening to Newtowners and understanding what matters most to them.
Through the American Legion, Brandon led a constitutional speech competition for our high school students, encouraging young people to engage with civic life. Current and former members of Junior Newtown Action Alliance have also stepped up to volunteer on his campaign because he genuinely believes young people should have a voice in their community. He has supported the Turkey Trot, spent time meeting with seniors at the Senior Center, served pancakes at the Bunny Breakfast, and knocked on hundreds of Newtown doors during the past municipal election.
All of this came after eight years serving our country in the Army, including combat service in Afghanistan. Brandon is not only deeply patriotic, but deeply focused on our community.
We can all also see the positive tone of his campaign. While others resort to political attacks, Brandon has chosen a brighter path. This speaks volumes about his character.
Brandon Moore is earning trust in Newtown showing up, listening, and putting in the work to get to know Newtowners one conversation at a time.
So before people rush to judge him based on political attacks, I hope they take the time to meet this young man who has already done so much both for our country and for Newtown.
