Endorses Embree Ku
To The Editor:
My husband and I moved here in 1994, knowing that retirement would be a few years away and assuming that we would move elsewhere at that point in our lives. We fell in love with Connecticut and especially Newtown and 32 years later we are still here.
When the Ku family became our neighbors 16 years ago, Michelle began by transforming their yard into beautiful gardens and quickly became an integral part of the community, along with her husband and three sons.
With a PHD in Biology, and experience as a professor and research scientist, Michelle became involved first with the schools and has served 14 years on Newtown elected boards and appointed commissions, including the Board of Education, the Board of Selectmen and currently on the Legislative Council.
Her role in Newtown was particularly valuable to us when as a Veterans Service Officer for the American Legion assisting veterans in finding health benefits, she encouraged us to go to the Newtown Health Fair. My husband was signed up for a Veteran ID card and given invaluable knowledge about healthcare and other benefits that we were totally unaware of that are due him as a Vietnam Veteran.
Michelle Ku is the person with the deep knowledge and experience in Newtown who is the best candidate for our next Connecticut Representative, and I encourage all Democrats to come to the forum on May 22 and to the caucus on May 26 at the Newtown Middle School.
