To The Editor:

I am writing to share exciting news for the Connecticut running community. Newtown is proud to announce its inaugural half-marathon, an event designed to bring runners and walkers from every corner of our state together for a great cause.

This isn’t just a race; it’s a tribute. We are running to honor the legacy of Greg Ritzinger, a founding member of the Newtown Road Runners. By participating in the half-marathon, 10K, or 5K, runners from across Connecticut will be directly supporting the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association.

We welcome athletes of all levels to join us for this historic first. We are also seeking sponsors and volunteers to help manage the many tasks required for an event of this scale. Registration is available at RunSignup.com. For sponsorship or volunteer opportunities, please call Bruce Goulart at (203) 482-2529.

We look forward to seeing the whole state represented at the finish line!
