To The Editor:

As your First Selectman, I want to remind everyone of the importance of participating in Newtown’s upcoming budget referendum. This vote asks residents to decide on the proposed education and municipal budgets — choices that directly influence our schools, our students and educators, and the services that keep our town safe, well‑maintained, and running smoothly.

The education budget supports classroom instruction, staffing, student programs, and the maintenance of our school facilities. The municipal budget funds essential services such as public safety, public works, parks and recreation, and the infrastructure that supports daily life in Newtown. Your vote helps determine how we invest in these core areas for the year ahead.

I encourage every eligible resident to review the budget materials, understand what is being proposed, and make a plan to vote. Whether you choose to participate on referendum day, during early voting, or through absentee options, your engagement ensures that Newtown’s priorities reflect the voices of the people who live here.

Thank you for your continued involvement and commitment to our community. Your voice matters, and your vote plays a meaningful role in shaping Newtown’s future.
