To The Editor:

When I think about who I want to represent my family in Hartford, I want it to be someone who will work for what's best for Newtown. Someone who knows our town, and has been listening to us for years. Someone who has experience in working with broad coalitions and enabling positive change.

Michelle Ku is that person.

Michelle's proven track record of 15 years local service is well known, as is her dedication to improving our community. Her quiet confidence helps smooth out discussions and anchors her position in any debate, from her work on the Charter Revision Commission in 2012 through her time on the Board of Selectmen in 2025.

I have had the privilege to work with Michelle for years on the Board of Education which she went on to Chair after I left. Michelle's effort was invaluable in changing school start times to ensure proper rest for our students, and her intelligence was put to work helping the district navigate back to the classroom after COVID-19.

Years later, I continue to be impressed with Michelle's efforts while we are serving on the Legislative Council. Michelle manages to keep track of multiple concerns across the community and ensures that we always discuss water problems, traffic concerns, and other issues taxpayers bring up.

Michelle has earned her stripes in Hartford as well. She chaired a task force on food allergies in schools for the state legislature that resulted in a good Samaritan law. Michelle has also served on a regional advisory board to the Governor and advocated for gun violence prevention.

Please join me in voting for Michelle Ku for the official DTC endorsement for the 106th District State House seat at the Democratic Caucus on May 26th at 6 pm in Newtown Middle School.
