Jack Spinelli, 85, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 1, 2026.

Born in Bridgeport, Jack devoted over 50 years to the insurance profession, including many years as the owner of a Nationwide Insurance agency in Fairfield. He took pride in helping people and earned the trust and friendship of countless clients.

Jack is survived by his children, Lauren Henry and Darren Spinelli, and their families: Dave Henry, Connor Henry, William Omelia, Clifford Omelia, and Dylan Omelia.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Artz.

He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Diane Kossi, Phillis Spinelli, Ralph Spinelli, and Joe Spinelli.

An avid fisherman, Jack was happiest with a fishing rod in hand. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Mets and the New York Jets, cheering them on through every season. He enjoyed time at the lake, vacations, golf and many trips to the casino with his longtime friend of more than 40 years, Lee. Over the years, he also became a cherished part of Lee's family, including David Hollis and Diane Waite, Sheri Carr, Mark Carr and Lindsay Carr. In addition, they both adored their beloved dog, Buddy. In more recent years he never passed up an opportunity to play bingo with the ladies at Nunnawauk Meadows. Jack was very proud of his service to his country in the US Navy. Above all, Jack took great pride in his Italian heritage. He often spoke fondly of his mother's cooking, especially her famous gravy.

Jack was fortunate to have Margaret Palacios in his life during his final year. Her kindness, compassion, and devoted care brought him great comfort, and she remained by his side until his final breath.

More than anything, Jack enjoyed being around people. Whether talking baseball, swapping fishing stories, or striking up a conversation with someone he'd just met, he had a way of making people feel like friends.
