Did Not Notice Collision

Newtown Police report Robert Mauborgne, 65, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2014 GMC Savana, was pulling into a parking space in the lot at 228 South Main Street at 5:05 pm June 26. A 2019 Chevrolet Express owned by William Wickson, 70, of Monroe, was parked in an adjacent spot. Mauborgne sideswiped Wickson's vehicle. Mauborgne left the area and returned home. He told police he did not realize he made contact with the other vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Hit Railroad Bridge

Newtown Police report Alex Candeleria, 31, of Norwalk, operating a 2006 Mack dump truck, was traveling eastbound on Botsford Hill Road approaching the overhead train bridge at 8:14 am July 14. The top of the cargo cover struck the underside of the bridge.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.

Candeleria was issued a verbal warning for disobeying a height restriction sign.

Backed Into Car

Newtown Police report Diego Torres-Torres, 45, of New Haven, operating a 2011 Toyota Tundra, was in a driveway on South Main Street at 12:09 pm July 14. Spencer Blassberg, 25, of Redding, operating a 2024 Chevrolet Trax, was behind Torres-Torres. Torres-Torres backed up because traffic was not clear and collided with Blassberg's vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Failure To Appear Charges

Newtown Police report that on July 16, Melissa Hill, 40, of Newtown, turned herself in to Newtown Police Department on two active warrants for her arrest. She was taken into custody and charged with first-degree failure to appear and second-degree failure to appear.

Hill was released on a $20,000 bond and given a court date of July 30 in Danbury Superior Court.

PRAWN Warrant Arrest

Newtown Police report that on July 17, James Reagan, 45, of Newtown, turned himself in to Newtown Police Department on an active PRAWN warrant. He was taken into custody and charged with violation of probation.

Reagan was released on a $25,000 surety bond with a court date of July 30 in Danbury Superior Court.

Collision In Parking Lot

Newtown Police report Rebecca Gagne, 78, of Newtown, operating a 2017 Honda HR-V, was backing out of a space in the parking lot at 24 Glen Road at 8:59 am July 18. She struck an unoccupied 2025 Subaru Forester owned by James Wadell, 70, of Sandy Hook.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Struck Mailbox And Utility Pole

Newtown Police report Rosa Marin, 59, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Audi A6, was traveling westbound on Mt Pleasant Road at 2:03 pm July 18. While negotiating a slight left-hand curve, Marin lost control due to a heavy downpour and struck a mailbox, then a utility pole.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Marin was issued a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Unlicensed, Unregistered

Newtown Police report that on July 19, during a routine motor vehicle stop, it was determined that Solis Alberto Fernandez was driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating a vehicle with a misused license plate. Fernandez was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and misuse of registration plates.

Fernandez was issued a misdemeanor summons, released on a promise to appear, and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 30.
