Judy Louise LaCroix
Judy Louise LaCroix of Sandy Hook passed away on July 31, 2026, from complications due to a long illness. Judy was born in Danbury to Herbert and Mary (McCaslin) Hempstead. She grew up in Newtown, attended Newtown schools, and graduated from Newtown High School in 1967. She also graduated from WCSU.

For her entire life, Judy was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church, active in numerous groups including Stephen Ministry, Altar Guild, ReCreation, chalice ministry, and pastoral care. It was in these church groups that she formed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed helping others, being in nature, drawing, painting, needlepoint, and knitting. She was an animal lover, rescuing many throughout her lifetime.
Judy is survived by her children Michelle Macey (Robert), Danielle Bagley (Terry), David (Jennifer), and Devon; as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
