David Clark
David Clark, beloved husband of the late Margaret (Bates) Clark, passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 89.
He was born on July 11, 1937 in Southall, United Kingdom, to Frank and Beatrice (Chambers) Clark. As a young man David played goalie for a local football team where met his future wife Margaret, and they were married in 1959. David began his career as an apprentice tool and die maker for EMI and then worked for Airmec as a draftsman and designer. He went on to work for Perkin-Elmer as a mechanical engineer for over 35 years. In 1975 the family emigrated to the United States, initially living in Brookfield, before settling in Sandy Hook in 1983.
Throughout his nearly nine decades, David built a career as a successful engineer and raised a loving family. He had a passion for watching British football, improving his house and property and spending time with family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his cats and enjoyed an occasional evening glass of scotch.
David is survived by sons Nicholas and his wife Debbie of Sherman, and Christopher and his wife Diane of Bridgewater; as well as his grandchildren Tyler and Hannah, and extended family residing in England.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of over 60 years, Margaret; and his brother Alan.
A private service for the family will be held in Newtown at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
