Darla Paul had five kills, Leah Botta had seven digs, Remy Plummer and Rylan Kennedy each had five digs, and Mia Sullivan had four kills. Kennedy also had three kills and a pair of aces, and Taylor Leighton logged a dozen assists.

Cross Country

The NHS cross country teams visited Brookfield in the season-opening meet on September 15. The girls defeated Brookfield 22-34; New Milford also participated but did not have enough runners to compete as a team. On the boys' side, the Nighthawks defeated Brookfield 15-48 and New Milford 18-45, and lost 21-34 to Stratford.

Field Hockey

It has been a challenging start for Newtown High School's field hockey team, which has faced some tough South-West Conference and nonconference competitors out of the gate. The Nighthawks, coming off three consecutive shutout losses, put one in the back of the net but fell 4-1 to visiting Guilford on September 15. Charlotte Comstock had the Hawk goal.

Newtown fell 2-0 at Norwalk on September 10, 6-0 at Branford the next day, and 4-0 at SWC rival New Fairfield on September 14. The September 15 game was Newtown's 15 For Life game. Kaitlyn Doyle, Keira Campbell, and Claire Caico spoke to fans about the importance of the 15 For Life Mission to support mental health awareness.
