House of Harrison, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people in need, is organizing a winter coat and clothing giveaway towards the end of October.

The giveaway will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 9:30-11:30 am, and Thursday, October 22, 3:30-6 pm, at FAITH Food Pantry, 46 Church Hill Road.

Prior to the giveaway, people are encouraged to drop off any gently used, preferably clean coats under the pergola at 2 Washington Square, Fairfield Hills Campus.

The event serves as a way to provide struggling individuals with clothing such as coats, jackets, mittens, scarves, and earmuffs to keep warm through the cold winter months.

Since its launch in 2024, House of Harrison has served over 5,000 people experiencing the most difficult or vulnerable times of their lives.

It has also supported more than 20 partner agencies across Connecticut, including Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Clayton House in Glastonbury, Harmony House in Danbury, Save A Suit in Bethel, St Vincent de Paul Middletown, and more.

The nonprofit is named in honor of Newtown resident Lynne Farah’s late son Harrison, who died in August of 2023. When previously speaking to The Newtown Bee, Farah said House of Harrison carries on her son's kind and compassionate spirit, with the goal of helping people the same way he did.
