Gallery Talk:

Creativity and Process

WOODBURY — Fenn Gallery will host a gallery talk and afternoon tea with ceramic artist Robin Johnson entitled “Thoughts on Creativity and the Creative Process.” The public is invited to this free event, which will be held on Sunday, October 22, at 2 pm.

Space is limited. For reservations call the gallery at 263-3449.

Using her own work currently on display for reference, Ms Johnson will give a gallery tour and discuss the ways in which history, culture, nature and man-made objects influence artistic expression.

She will also talk about the importance of technical mastery as well as patience and receptiveness necessary for artists to be able to respond to their material during the creative process.

As part of the talk, attendees will be invited to enjoy tea in traditional tea bowls created by Ms Johnson. A question and answer period will follow.

Ms Johnson received her MA from Columbia University. She is a frequent speaker and workshop educator. Illustrations of her ceramics have been published and some of her work is in the permanent collection of Yale University Art Gallery.

Fenn Gallery, at 345 Main Street South, is open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 pm. For more information call the gallery at 263-3449 or visit FennGallery.com.
