Ella E. Mueller, 91, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Bridgeport, died April 23, at Bethel Health Care. She was the wife of the late Charles Mueller. Mrs Mueller was born in Yugoslavia, October 2, 1919.
She immigrated to America with her husband and children in 1951. She was a longtime employee of St Ann Convent in Black Rock, Bridgeport, where she was a cook and housekeeper for the Sisters of The Daughters of Charity. In 1973 she relocated to Sandy Hook and was employed at Fairfield Hills State Hospital until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs Mueller was an avid gardener all her life. She took pleasure in growing her own fruits and vegetables, and her beautiful flower gardens were enjoyed by many. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by a son, Otto Mueller and his wife, Joan, of Bridgeport; three daughters, Gerda Hanson of Manchester, Renate Deer of Bridgeport, and Dianna Seaman and her husband, Jonathan, of Southbury; a daughter-in-law, Marion (Mueller) Alves of Amarillo, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Mueller, a great-grandson, Michael, and two sons-in-law, Leonard Hanson and Ralph Deer.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, April 29, at 10 am, at St Ann Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Burial will follow in St Michael Cemetery in Stratford.
Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, April 28, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
