All town offices and agencies will be closed from noon on Thursday, December 24, until 8 am on Monday, December 28, for the Christmas holiday. The following week, offices will close at noon on Thursday, December 31, and remain closed until 8 am Monday, January 4, for New Year’s.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will be closing at 11 am on Thursdays, December 24 and December 31. It will be closed on Fridays, December 25 and January 1.

C.H. Booth Library will be closing early, at 1 pm, on Thursdays, December 24 and 31, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s days.

Newtown Senior Center will close at noon on December 24 (no lunch served, and all classes canceled), be closed all day December 25, and will reopen on Monday, December 28, at 9. The same schedule will be followed on Thursday and Friday, December 31-January 1; and Monday, January 4.

The public schools will be closed December 24-January 1. Classes resume on January 4.

The offices of The Bee, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open on Thursdays, December 24 and 31. Letters to the Editor must be received by 3 pm Tuesday to be included in the December 25 and January 1 issues of The Newtown Bee, respectively. All other deadlines will also be moved up by 24 hours.

The issue of December 25, 2015 will be published and mailed on Wednesday, December 23; and the issue of January 1, 2016 will be published and mailed on Wednesday, December 30. 

The Bee office will be closed Fridays, December 25 and January 1.
