Chester âChetâ Metcalf, 68, of Newtown died November 13 at the home of his son in Sandy Hook.
Mr Metcalf was born April 11, 1937, in Southbury, son of Frank and Hazel (Miller) Metcalf. He was a US Navy veteran and retired from H.H. Stone Construction in Southbury as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid NASCAR fan and had lived in Southbury and Sandy Hook before moving to Newtown.
He leaves one son, Jack E. Metcalf of Sandy Hook; one daughter, Kelly M. Richardson and her husband, Bradley, of Southbury; three brothers, Eugene Metcalf of Southbury, Donald âJakeâ Metcalf of Middlebury, and George Metcalf of Palm Coast, Fla.; one sister, Emily Cassidy of Grand Isle, Vt.; five grandchildren, John and Marissa Metcalf, and Alicia, Briana, and Kari Richardson; his former wife, Jill Metcalf; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held November 16 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury. Arrangements were by Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.
