Kevin Corey Named Lion Of The Year

Kevin Corey has been named the Newtown Lions Club’s Lion of the Year for 2003-04.

Lions President Paul Arneth made the announcement at the last meeting of the year and expressed the great pleasure it gave him to honor Kevin Corey.

Mr Arneth said that during the year one Lion’s Club member was at every project that required a volunteer. Specifically he mentioned the development and cleanup of Orchard Hill Trails, the planting of the Nunnawauk trees, working at the Lose the Litter day, and being a “river rat’ for the Great Pootatuck Race.

Also during the year Kevin Corey and Denny McLaughlin were in charge of collecting food and supplies for local food pantries. They prodded their fellow Lions to remember to bring the items to each meeting. For all of the above and for the good fellowship he brings to the Lions Club, Kevin Corey was selected Lion of the Year. He was presented with a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
