Free Shredding Services Saturday

Jean A. Leonard & Associates of Ameriprise Financial, Inc will be sponsoring free shredding services on Saturday, May 5, from 9 am until noon, at Fairfield Hills.

The public is invited to bring a maximum of five boxes containing sensitive documents and hard drives they no longer want or need to Fairfield Hills. Ms Leonard and employees of On-Site Shredding will be set up near Newtown Hall, off Keating Farms Road (near the Victory Garden and where the summer organic farmers’ market is presented).

The materials will be destroyed free of charge by machinery provided by On-Site Shredding, a company that specializes in on-site document destruction. In exchange, attendees are asked to bring with them a nonperishable food item to donate to FAITH Food Pantry in Newtown.

Free refreshments and raffle prizes will also be available.

“I wanted to do something good for our local community while helping families and businesses from becoming victims of identity theft,” said Jean Leonard, senior financial advisor with Ameriprise. “The first rule in preventing identity theft is: if you don’t need it, shred it, and we are here to make that happen. We are proud to be able to help consumers protect themselves while demonstrating our commitment to go green.”
