ON THE ROAD FOR SEPTEMBER 12
MIND TYDES, a Newtown band that's been making some noise this summer with a
few shows and a CD release, has another pair of just-announced shows this
week. The band will be at Bobby R's (Route 25) in Monroe on Friday night, and
next Friday, the 19th, they will be opening for Belly Button at Tuxedo
Junction.
Tickets are going on sale Saturday morning for a FIONA APPLE concert at the
Palace Theatre in New Haven, on October 16. No info on prices for you, or even
who is opening. Palace tickets are sold through TicketMaster, which is in any
Filene's store or can be reached by calling 525-4500 or 624-0033.
Also being put on sale Saturday morning are tickets for YES. The concert date
is Friday, October 17. This marks the first concert in the fall announced for
the Hartford venue, and by this point the walls that divide the inner pavilion
from the outer lawn area will be closed.
The lineup this tour around consists of Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Billy
Sherwood, Chris Squire and Alan White. Showtime is 8 pm, and tickets are $28
and $38 apiece. Meadows tickets are available through Pro-Tix )call
860/422-0000 or stop in any Strawberries outlet).
OK, so the fall season has started, and "Melrose Place" led the way with its
season premiere Monday night. I don't know about you, but I miss Alison and
her vodka bottle already! (Although her appearance on "Ally McBeal" in the 9
pm time-slot was the Alison character all over again, so it's like she never
really left.) Billy's a wimp. Samantha is this totally weird voodoo chick (I
see something developing here with her father's ashes). Peter's gone over the
edge (but that wedding scene was the best !). Kyle and Amanda aren't going to
last, of course. Megan I can't decide about, and Michael's sister is just
white trash through and through.
My favorite part about the new season? The fact they were all at the hospital
with one hair style, and by the next morning everyone had had haircuts. Gotta
love that! Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
